About Me

Keelin Brown was born in Washington D.C and attended Montrose Christian School (a small Montgomery County private school in Rockville, MD) throughout his Elementary, Middle, and High school years. He is a 2020 graduate from Bowie State University with a bachelor's degree in communications. He is currently enrolled at the University of Maryland as a graduate student majoring in broadcast journalism. After graduating high school, Keelin enrolled in Prince George's Community College (PGCC) as a culinary arts major. His experience in the culinary industry soon proved that it was not the right path for him. After spending the next 2 ½ years at PGCC and earning a degree in General Studies, Keelin transferred to Bowie State University and decided to pursue a career path in the Communications/broadcast field. With abundance of confidence, charisma, and support, he graduated summa cum laude in the Fall of 2020.

Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic impacted his ability to acquire internships and find work after graduating. However, after a year, he found work producing music shows on the GoldenRB radio station. He also volunteered with the Nineteenth Street Baptist Church Media Ministry and was a color commentator for the Bowie State's Men's and Women's Basketball teams.

Soon afterward, he obtained an internship with the Prince George's Community Television Station, where he operated in-studio cameras during live news coverage, cut and edited "b-roll footage" and "vosot" on Adobe Premiere Pro. While interning at PGCTV, he had the opportunity to interview the Charles Herbert Flowers Football Team during the team's preparation for their upcoming season for his first ever sports story.

The Prince Georges Community Television internship provided him the hands-on experiences and confidence which he applies while working with UMD’s Big Ten Network. There he monitors and operates audio levels of the commentators, the game cameras and scorebox/expressions, during the live University of Maryland games.

All of the experiences have helped strengthen his understanding of and skill levels in producing, reporting, and writing, Keelin has been video editing, producing, and writing for the last two years and is now seeking an opportunity to further enhance his career development and employment opportunities in the broadcasting journalism field.
